Trust, security & ownership

Clear responsibilities are the foundation of trust.

Security, ownership and continuity should be discussed before delivery, not discovered when something changes.

This page explains the principles. The exact controls, responsibilities and evidence are agreed for the engagement.

Ownership and access

What the commercial agreement should define.

  • Ownership of custom code and deliverables
  • Treatment of pre-existing components and third-party licences
  • Repository and environment access
  • Cloud-account and deployment responsibility
  • Data ownership, location and processing roles
  • Documentation, export and handover requirements

Security and data handling

Covered in discovery, evidenced in delivery.

The engagement discovery should cover data classification, access, authentication, development environments, devices, backups, logging, vulnerabilities, third parties, incident routes and retention.

What we publish

We publish only the controls that are currently implemented and can be evidenced. Certification and insurance positions are confirmed in writing during due diligence rather than displayed as badges.

Confidentiality, continuity and due diligence

Confidentiality and contracting

Appropriate confidentiality, intellectual-property, data-processing, subprocessor and security terms should be agreed based on the work and the parties’ responsibilities.

Continuity and transfer

Documentation, shared access and regular knowledge transfer reduce dependency on one person or supplier. The handover route should be planned from the start where transfer is a likely outcome.

Due diligence

Security and delivery documentation can be made available during an appropriate due-diligence process where current and relevant.
